Changelog

What's new in Orion.

Releases and improvements across the desktop IDE, Orion Cloud, source control, and the CLI. Newest first.

GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, Claude Opus 5.5, and an image viewer

  • GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna — Both join the Codex model picker right after GPT-6 Astra, sharing its GPT-6 reasoning tiers with Medium as the default and Max available. Ultra is offered on Sol but not Luna, matching what the Codex CLI advertises. Remote Orion accepts the same tiers.
  • Claude Opus 5.5 — Opus 5.5 is available in the Claude model picker after Fable 5.1 and Fable 5 and always runs with the 1 million token context window. Claude shortcuts are renumbered to fit, so Sonnet 4.6 drops off the ⌘1 to ⌘9 range.
  • GPT-6 as the orchestration default — Computer use and implementation orchestration now default to GPT-6 Sol instead of GPT-5.6 Sol, and hidden utility turns such as thread titles and commit messages prefer GPT-6 Luna.
  • Image viewer for transcripts — Click any image in a transcript, whether an agent emitted it in markdown or you attached it to a message, to open it full screen. Use ← and → or the on-screen chevrons to step through every image in the thread, click an oversized image to switch between fit-to-screen and actual size, and press Esc or click the backdrop to close.

Grok 4.7 with reasoning support

  • Grok 4.7 in the model picker — The Grok 4.7 models are available across the agent catalog with reasoning enabled, and Remote Orion accepts them when you pick a model from your phone.

Smoother sidebar resizing and quieter app updates

  • Resizable sidebars everywhere — The app sidebar and the Code workspace sidebar share the same drag-to-resize behavior, with updated layout and resizing styles so panels move smoothly.
  • Full thread titles on hover — Hover a truncated thread in the sidebar to see its full title.
  • Silent update retries — Background update checks and downloads now retry quietly when they fail, so a transient network problem no longer leaves Orion on an old version until the next launch.

Chrome tools respect Full access in Claude threads

  • Chrome tools no longer blocked in Full access — Claude threads running with Full access were sometimes stopped mid-task with "Blocked by classifier" when they used Claude in Chrome tools, because Claude Code routed those calls through its auto-mode classifier regardless of the permission mode. Orion now opts Claude sessions, aside spawns, and the Claude terminal out of that classifier floor, so Full access applies to browser actions too. Set CLAUDE_CHROME_CLASSIFIER_FLOOR yourself to keep your own choice.

Durable Git credentials, in-place plan updates, and video previews

  • Durable repository credentials — Orion Desktop now provisions a revocable device token for Orion Cloud Git access, stored with OS encryption and kept separate from your account session. Pushes no longer fail when a short-lived session expires or an inherited credential helper hands over a stale credential, and authentication, permission, and service failures each get their own recovery guidance. An expired legacy session needs one sign-in before the first device token is issued.
  • Update published plans in place — A plan you published with Orion Plan can now be revised without changing its link. Run orion-cli plan update <id-or-link> <plan.html> and the existing share link serves the new revision. Only the account that published a plan can update it.
  • Codex sessions survive restarts — Orion now supervises the lifetime of every Codex app-server it starts and cleans up the process group when a launcher exits or Orion goes away. A follow-up after an interrupted turn resumes the original session instead of replacing it with a fresh conversation that only had your latest prompt.
  • Play videos in the Code viewer — Opening an MP4, WebM, MOV, M4V, OGV, MKV, or AVI file in Code shows a video player with playback, seeking, volume, and fullscreen controls instead of a text buffer. Video tabs are read-only previews, reload when the file changes, and show a clear error for unsupported media.
  • Codex browser workflows restored — Codex uses the browser tools available in the current session, whether the Chrome extension is set up for computer use or the legacy skill-based flow, with a dedicated Chrome DevTools fallback for extension mode. Settings now distinguish a detected Chrome setup from a working connection.
  • CLI session recovery — orion-cli 0.5.2 re-authorizes in the browser when a saved session is rejected, before any PR, push, or deploy work starts. JSON and headless callers get an authentication_required error naming the credential source instead of a browser prompt, and ORION_TOKEN is never replaced or written to disk.

GPT-6 Astra and richer Claude interactions

  • GPT-6 Astra in Orion — Select GPT-6 Astra from the Codex model picker, with six reasoning levels from Low through Ultra and Medium as the default. Max and Ultra are also supported in Remote Orion settings.
  • Astra context retention — Astra's experimental notes and searchable history mode is enabled by default for new and resumed sessions on supported Codex versions. Choose whether to enable it, disable it, or follow your host configuration in provider settings, independently of cross-chat memory.
  • Native images and PDFs — Claude now receives images and PDFs as native attachments, including when you steer an active turn. Codex receives native images, with original image detail for Astra, and composer attachments are forwarded correctly to both providers.
  • Answer questions in Orion — Reply to Codex and Claude questions directly in the desktop app with suggested choices or your own text. Claude questions also support multiple selections and recover pending replies when you navigate away and return.
  • Approve individual Claude tool calls — Respond to Claude tool permission prompts in the desktop app, with approval scoped to a single call. Cancel pending requests when you no longer want to continue.
  • Updated Claude Fable runtime — Orion bundles an updated Claude Code fallback runtime for Fable 5.1 and forwards your 1 million token context selection to Claude Code.
  • Clearer provider activity — See more native Codex tool, subagent, and wait activity alongside provider notices. Claude now surfaces fallback, retry, permission, and usage-limit notices so you can follow what is happening during a turn.

Claude Fable 5.1 as the default model

  • Claude Fable 5.1 by default — New threads and orchestration now start on Claude Fable 5.1. It is in the model picker and supports Claude's 1 million token context window.
  • Updated Claude shortcuts — Fable 5.1 takes ⌘1. The rest of the Claude lineup shifts down one slot, so Fable 5 is ⌘2, Opus 5 is ⌘3, and so on.

GitHub pull request sync and repository import

  • Mirror pull requests to GitHub — GitHub mirrors now keep pull requests in sync alongside branches, so a PR opened on an Orion repository shows up on its GitHub mirror with the same title, description, and state.
  • Import repositories from GitHub — Bring an existing GitHub repository into Orion source control in one step. Orion clones the history, links the mirror, and keeps both sides current from then on.
  • Author profiles on commit views — Commits in repository views now link to the Orion profile of their author when the commit email maps to an Orion account, including commits that arrived through a mirror.
  • Epics from Remote Orion — Create an epic and its workspace flow directly from the remote-control app, so planning work no longer requires switching back to the desktop.

Organization workspaces and shared cloud runtimes

  • Organization workspaces — Teams can now create an organization, invite members by email, and share repositories, boards, and Orion Cloud apps under one workspace. Invitations arrive as transactional email with a one-click accept link.
  • Repository metadata — Edit a repository's description, website, and topics from the repository page. Topics feed the Discover view so public repositories are easier to find.
  • Shared artifact runtimes — Orion Cloud apps now run on shared artifact runtimes, which cuts cold-start time for small apps and lets a single account host up to 50 apps.
  • Placement-bound deploys — Deployments stay pinned to the placement they were created in, and edge deployments only dispatch to active regions. This removes a class of "deployed but unreachable" failures after a region change.
  • Better empty states — Organization pages and task cards explain what to do next when there is nothing to show yet, and card interactions on the board are more forgiving of stray clicks.

Orion Plan, repository discovery, and the CLI docs

  • Orion Plan — Publish a plan from any agent with orion-cli plan upload and share it as a link. Plans render at plan.orioncode.xyz with the same dark UI as the rest of Orion, and the CLI skill teaches agents when publishing is appropriate.
  • Discover repositories — The repositories page now opens on a Discover tab that lists public Orion repositories, so you can explore what other people are building without leaving the app.
  • Isolated app runtimes — Each Orion Cloud app now runs in its own isolated runtime with its own provider CLI context. Pro accounts can host up to 20 apps, and deploy workers wait for the placement schema before scheduling work.
  • CLI documentation — A new CLI documentation page covers installation, deploys, pull requests, cloud management, and a command map written for both people and agents.
  • Pull request commit views — Pull requests show only the commits unique to the branch, along with an ahead count, and all PR mutations accept bearer tokens so agents can drive them from the CLI.
  • Issues and stars — Repositories gained an Issues tab backed by a JSON API, and you can star repositories you want to keep track of.
